Scenic Stream or Man Made Fish Ladder?

Is this a natual rolling brook running through the GLIA property? Another example of the natural beauty that makes Guilford Lakes such a desirable place to live?
Well, it is in GLIA, and it is pretty, but it man made! This it part of the corridor that allows Alewives, a migratory fish to return to their spawning grounds every year.
Installed during the reconstruction of the dams in the 1990's this fishway has had a positive impact on the migratory fish species on Long Island Sound

Lawn Care

It is best to avoid applying fertilizer before a heavy rain, to avoid runoff that adds nitrogen to the lakes and encourages growth of water weeds. . . (more)

The Timberlands

Timberlands comprises 582 acres of forest stretching from the Upper Guilford Lake north to Route 80. With over 15 miles of marked trails, excellent for hiking, mountian biking, horse back riding and cross country skiing. (view map)
